PFH Modest Fashion Convention

This year’s 4th Annual PFH Modest Fashion Convention in Laguna Hills, California was really one for the books. On August 13th, 2017 the PFH Convention became the largest modest fashion convention in the United States! We had over 500 attendees coming from all parts of the nation – from D.C. to NYC to Texas to Arizona and all of California. Our bazaar included over 30 brands from local, national, and international companies all run by Muslim women. Our Panel discussion featuring trailblazing Muslim women: Yasmin Elhady, Isra Chaker, Marwa Atik, and myself was a great addition as we discussed important topics facing the Muslim community from how to authentically create communities of support, to combating Islamophobia, to coping with the de-veiling phenomenon by tearing down the divisive walls between “hijabis’ and “non hijabis”, to how to start a company of your own.

One of the main highlights was the Design Your Own Hijab booth with Swarovski crystals. Women were so excited to have the chance to be able design their own scarf on the spot with the Swarovski team applying the best quality crystals. It was amazing seeing the creativity and excitement!

But the biggest thanks of them all goes to the incredible PFH team that are the unsung heroes of this event. There are over 40 incredible women working behind the scenes to ensure the success of the event and I’m forever grateful. A special shout out to my main PFH ladies Jocelyn Lopez, Zermina Akbary, Rana Festok, Jamiela Kokash, Samealzy, and Brittany Bravo. I truly couldn’t have done it without them!
