Spring has definitely sprung here in California and I have officially switched out all of my winter gear for my spring and summer clothes, but keeping those light jackets around for those days when it gets a little chilly. In this outfit, I’m wearing a blush light knit sweater topped with a blush shimmer bomber jacket that I adore. They both accent the blush tone so nicely. I paired it with white skinny jeans and I rolled up the cuffs so that I can wear my white lace espadrilles. You’re definitely going to be seeing more lace ups from me. I think they compliment the ankles so nicely and make the leg look nicer. I topped the look with a kinza scarf in this subtle marble print that I am absolutely in love with.
I just had to share this outfit. I'm wearing this victorian vintage looking knit floral lace turtleneck maxi dress that sways so beautifully when you walk and is in the most beautiful color. It's in this rich magenta shade that is to-die-for; such a statement dress! I topped it with this blush duster that has side slits so you get glimpses of the rich magenta color fusing with the blush - it's a beautiful site to see. I pulled the dress out from the wrist area and pulled the duster sleeve up so that the magenta color could pop. I've been doing that lately with a lot of my looks to get that multi-color effect and been loving it.
Ok so its no surprise that Stuart Weitzman is responsible for the boot of the season with his iconic line of over-the-knee silhouette boots in rich stretch suede fabric. I particularly fell in love with the "Tieland" style that has the block heel. Now, these boots come with a hefty price tag of over $800. They're gorgeous don't get me wrong, but I did not want to spend that much on a pair of boots. I came across these similar ones by Catherine Malandrino, and ordered them just to see if they were any good. To my surprise they were PERFECT. They fit even better than the Stuart Weitzman ones. The SW boot comes in a very tight stretch suede fabric that is almost too tight because when wearing them with a pair of jeans it creates a bulge at the thigh area sometimes depending on the size of the leg.
For this post, I'm playing on those blush hues. I mean you really can never go wrong with this color. I paired a blush sweater with these wine-colored coated jeans and please, can we just talk about these for a second? They are absolutely gorgeous. They're in such a luxurious color and they add an instant edge to any outfit. I must admit that I broke my #nonewclotheschallenge for these puppies, I just had to (but I'm back on track now). They're likely one of my favorite pairs of pant and now you can enjoy them too :)
Love is in the air, and God knows I've fallen in love with this fun and funky sweater. This one has got to be my favorite - that all around fringe detailing though! I've had a lot of luck with this brand English Factory - they have really unique pieces. You definitely have to be careful with this type of sweater though because it can be very unflattering sometimes if not paired with the proper pants. I usually don't like sweaters that are mid-length because they make me appear heavier than I really am, but the trick is to make sure you wear the most flattering pants for your figure. For this look, I particularly like a pant-like straight leg cut. Can we talk about these one-of-a-kind tuxedo point flats though? I love the two-tone edgy feel to them. You can wear it with sheer black stockings too for more coverage.
Sooooo the story of this top is similar to my post about Grey Hues Galore post: It was another random, but very lucky buy from the Zara sale back in December and it happens to be literally one of my favorite shirts that I will probably ever own. It comes in the color that I've been loving as you guys already know, the infamous light grey. This elegant top is made out of knit and has this gorgeous eyelash lace detailing that gives me extra coverage around the hip and bum area. It's flawless.
What inspires me to keep wearing my hijab is the possibility of changing people's perspective one what a hijabi women is "supposed to be." I hope that when people meet me and talk to me they will be able to look past the hijab and see that I am just a typical American like them.
I’m so excited to share this next outfit with you, but I say that a lot, don’t I? That’s just a testament to how much I always have you all in mind! With this outfit I had a lot of luck with holiday sales. When I was in Virginia, I was lucky enough to put my hands on this Zara top I’m wearing. It is seriously to die for and such a great buy. You know when you’re not looking for anything in particular, but then all of a sudden your eyes happen to fall on the perfect statement piece that ends up being one of the nicest and coolest tops you've ever owned? Ya, that's what happened here. I love the two-tone grey on white. It makes it appear as though I’m wearing two different layers, but it’s really just one top, AND I love love LOVE the cowl neck. You can’t tell, but there’s a zipper detailing on the side that allows me to adjust it making it tighter or wider. It’s spectacular.
On that note, I am officially starting a new series on the blog called #NoNewClothes where I am challenging myself to not buy any new clothes or shoes through to the Spring. I think it's safe to say that I have way more clothes and shoes than I need and they just don't get warn enough, so I want to use this opportunity to maximize everything that I already own. So every outfit post you will see going forward are of items I already own prior to today's date; some pieces I've had but I've never warn so they may look new. Do you think I'll make it till the Spring? I hope so! I'll be sharing lots of tips on how I'm able to re-wear and re-work a lot of my stuff. Join me in this challenge buy tagging your pics with #getPFH and #nonewclothes. We can share tips together! It's a great way to maximize your closet, save money, and overcome the need to always have the latest and greatest.
I'm so happy we're finally experiencing the Fall season here in California and to start it off, I'm wearing a cape that I am absolutely in LOVE with. I adore the split sides and those buttons that trail down my arms are a major plus. I'm playing off my favorite color of the year that I have been incorporating in many of my outfits as you may have already seen. Those light grey and blue hues have me in awe. mmmhmm.
I have to tell you all about a to-die-for kaftan! This white kaftan with gold and crystal embroidery at the neck and shoulders is guaranteed to be a show-stopper. It’s by a brand called COVEREDBLISS. It has the flow of a queen and falls so nicely on the body. Best of all it is NOT sheer and has full lining so you don’t have to worry about any improper exposure. It also has a tie at the waist to adjust the fitting according to your comfort. It’s a one size fits all.
Ready for my favorite poncho of the season? This gem is so elegant and an absolute must-have item! It's in my favorite color of the year too (grey/light blue). It has a detachable faux fur collar, which makes this piece so versatile. If you’re looking for a more subdued look then you can remove the collar or you can opt to leave it for a dressier ensemble. The best part about being able to remove the collar is that you have the option of adding it to other items in your wardrobe that need that final UMPH.
Depending on which package you purchase, you can make an entire day trip to the desert. They offer additional activities like camel riding (which we did), and then in the evening they offer belly dancing, dinner, and hooka in an Arab setting but we didn’t do that because it’s very touristy. So my friends and I did a morning time trip from 9am returning at 1pm at the Hatta Desert which is an hour east of Dubai. Here’s the best part, guess how much it cost for all 11 of us? $20 per person and guess what? That INCLUDES a private driver that will pick up each person in your group from their location and drop them back off! It really doesn’t get better than that! The trick is to book via www.Cobone.com - this could be considered as one of the Groupons of the UAE, and you find deals on it for everything. The Groupon site actually has an extension for UAE so be sure to check that out as well: https://www.cobone.com/en/deals/dubai
I am in looove with my new top from NOORNOIR. This is a PFH staple that needs to be in your closet for many reasons. For starters I love the fabric, it’s made out of a silky rayon jersey that feels really rich and isn’t too thick or thin.
For all you white and black lovers, you’ll love this outfit. I wanted an outfit that would be cute enough for a daytime bridal shower yet edgy enough for a dinner on the town later that evening. Capes have been one of, if not THE, biggest trend this season and I can’t get enough. It’s the perfect combo of classy meets edge and spruces up almost any outfit.
Happy Monday everyone! I wanted to share another example of how to make the most out of those pieces in your closest that you wear once or twice a year. This time I’m still wearing a romper but it’s a long sleeve fringe one. I loveeeee the sleeves on this piece and it bothers me to just watch it sit in my closet until a girls party comes around.
One of the best ways to spice up any outfit is to throw a cape over it. I’m in looove with this black long sequin cape that gives me all the right coverage in all the right areas. It’s such an elegant statement piece that drapes beautifully. Aleena Khan designed this piece exclusively for Kamal Beverly Hills. Check out Kamal’s boutique for some of the most jaw dropping custom pieces!
I’ve had a real obsession with both fur and fringe this winter. I know when you think about combining both of them in one outfit it seems like it would be a bit much but not if you do it in the right way. I adore this knee length cream colored knit sweater with a detachable fur collar! I can easily remove the collar and wear it on any other jacket/coat, so that’s a win. I paired it with straight leg jean and suede fringed pumps. The fringed pumps have been a huge hit this season and I really love it; adds a touch of edge and surprise to your foot game.
I spent the weekend on a ski trip to Lake Tahoe and am still in awe of how beautiful of a location it is. A bunch of friends and I rented a cabin in an area called Kings Beach overlooking the lake on the northern part of Lake Tahoe, right at the cusp of Nevada and California. It was the perfect variety of terrain from mountains, to snow, to sand, and water.
Heyy hey! Wanted to share with you one of my favorite outfits this winter. I think I can say that I've found one of my favorite jackets of all time! This blush beauty is a faux wool waterfall jacket that is so unique. I love the way it flows but I also love the length of the jacket. You know when you're wearing a top or a sweater then you wear a jacket on top of it that's shorter than the hems of the your top? It ends up looking shaggy and unkempt. This jacket will solve that problem all the while make such a fashion statement ;)
As for my thanksgiving get up - so, I went for a monochromatic look this time. I wore a cream-colored wide leg PFH jumpsuit – which has got to be one of my all time favorite jumpsuits. Thank you Rachel Pally for always designing the nicest PFH pieces. The fabric is a rich modal that hangs very nicely. You’re in luck because I have a few of them left for sale! Comment below if you’re interested or email me at getPFH@gmail.com for details on how to purchase it.
Let me tell you about my first and favorite Infinite Abaya purchase that I debuted in Morocco! I purchased the black kimono with lace trim down the front from the 2nd Annual PFH Trunk Show in Irvine back in September. There were two options, either lace trimmings around the cuffs OR down the front. I couldn’t decide which one I wanted because I loved the combination of both so much, so Infinite Abaya graciously offered to do a custom order for me with lace on the sleeves and down the middle. It is one of my FAV pieces ever!
Now for some fashions in Fez! I had a lot of fun putting together my outfits for Morocco, though in all honesty I didn’t really know what to expect. I packed with the impression that most of the roads will be bumpy, dusty, unpaved, and not very heel-friendly. That was the case for most of the cities we visited but especially for Fez.
Good news! Remember that gorgeous black and silver maxi dress that sold out in minutes at the PFH Trunk Show 2 in Irvine? Well, we promised we’d bring it back if we could and now we have! Get your hands on this beauty before it sells out. It can be warn to both fancy and casual occasions. The fabric is luxurious and the dress flows like a queen! Available for purchase for $125. We only have just a few available so drop a note in the comment box if you are interested or email me directly at getPFH@gmail.com
Now for my dress details that I promised you all. I went with a red and black theme for the night. I wore a Tadashi Shoji red and black scalloped lace gown with tiered draping on the skirt. It was very reminiscent of Spanish flamenco dresses. This gown has got to be one of my favorite gowns of all time. I had been saving it for a special friends’ wedding for some time now, and wanted to wear it for a fall/winter wedding because the fabric is on the thicker side. I was worried I’d get hot or feel weighed down by the dress, but it didn’t feel heavy at all, which was really nice.
While most everyone is updating their closet with fashions for fall, I'm trying to extend the summer fads for as long as I can - especially in this 100-degree weather. First day of fall isn't until the end of September so luckily I still have some time ;) I absolutely LOVE pleated skirts, and this coral number by BCBGMAXAZRIA has me obsessed. I have it in mint too. What I love is how the pleats give the skirt a different look with each step you take depending on how much wind breezes through it. The flowy look is really festive and can be dressed up or down.
Just a little dose of some Sunday vibes for ya. I have been obsessed with all things flowy this summer from wide-leg pants, to maxi skirts and dresses. My go-to outfit has been maxi skirts with blouses knotted at the waist. It's so feminine and flowy I love it. Once fall hits, it's always so hard for me to wear jeans after experiencing the comfort of flowy garments especially in the heat, so maybe I'll just stay in them forever =D
We're just a month away from the 2nd Annual PFH Trunk Showin Irvine! Here's a sneak peek of a gorgeous long sleeve navy floral jumpsuit you can expect to be available for sale. I have to say this has got to be one of my all time favorite jumpsuits because the fabric is a gorgeous polyester that's not too thick, and the floral print is so fun and whimsical. The fit is just right too. Can be warn for a fun night out on the town or for a casual day in the city. If you haven't purchased your tickets yet be sure to do so here. See you on September 13th laydayys!
