For me, fashion serves a much larger role in my life than simply clothing. It’s a powerful means through which an identity is being communicated. It is a visual representation of my faith, choice, agency, belief, culture, style, and preference – in that order.Read More

The dress code for the conference was business casual so I played around with that theme. I didn't want to wear the typical blazer so I spiced it up a little by wearing a chic denim jacket instead.Read More

My hijab keeps me focused. Every time I have it on I know its serving a purpose. It's making a statement. It reminds me to be on my best behavior because I'm representing something much bigger than myself. My hijab means freedom, freedom from the constraints of society, freedom from being obligated to fit certain norms set for women.Read More
If you haven’t heard of Lake Tahoe, it’s a breathtaking freshwater lake located in the Sierra Nevada Mountains but falls on the border of both California and Nevada. We stayed in Meeks Bay which is on the south west region bordering California. My family flew out from the East Coast and my in-laws flew up from Los Angeles. We rented a home on the lake near Home Wood Ski Resort for the weekend. It was such a memorable family trip. On our way back we got stuck in a snow storm, which quadrupled the amount of time it took us to drive back to San Francisco. We were literally in the car driving for 10 hours straight! But it was a beautiful ride I must say.Read More
Spring has definitely sprung here in California and I have officially switched out all of my winter gear for my spring and summer clothes, but keeping those light jackets around for those days when it gets a little chilly. In this outfit, I’m wearing a blush light knit sweater topped with a blush shimmer bomber jacket that I adore. They both accent the blush tone so nicely. I paired it with white skinny jeans and I rolled up the cuffs so that I can wear my white lace espadrilles. You’re definitely going to be seeing more lace ups from me. I think they compliment the ankles so nicely and make the leg look nicer. I topped the look with a kinza scarf in this subtle marble print that I am absolutely in love with.Read More

What does the hijab mean to you?
Although I reverted 2 years ago, I started fully covering my body less than a year ago. It was my own choice and I'm so grateful for taking this step, because hijab helped reveal my true identity. It became a symbol of modesty, an act of Faith, and a crown that empowers me. It constantly reminds me of Allah SWT. It helps my self-control and keeps me focused on my true goals in life. It's my inspiration and protectant, but it was not always like that.
