PFH Hijab Movement: Shima Chaballout
Shima Chaballout Harake is a wife, mother, and student. Here's what she had to say about Hijab:
What does the hijab mean to you?
Hijab to me is standing in solidarity with my faith and my beliefs and tearing down all of the stereotypes put on hijabis.
What inspires you to wear the hijab?
What inspires me to keep wearing my hijab is the possibility of changing people's perspective one what a hijabi women is "supposed to be." I hope that when people meet me and talk to me they will be able to look past the hijab and see that I am just a typical American like them.
What advice do you have for those who are struggling with it?
Don't allow society to force fear into your faith. Be the Muslim you want to be.
